If you love a good story about resisting tyrannical government, keeping incriminating secrets, and surviving despite the odds, I think we'll be fast friends. Come on my trilogy writing journey by subscribing to my newsletter and following me on social media. You in?
I'm the quiet one often lost in thought. Besides writing fiction for 10 years, I have a background in gymnastics, dance, and theatre. I'm happiest when hiking takes up some of my time, as I feel most at home in the mountains.
When I can make it to my desk, you'll often find me wearing some earthy shade of green, a candle lit beside me, and indie folk music quietly filling the night around me.
I've also battled chronic illness since 2020. It wasn't until April of 2023 that I was properly diagnosed with mold sickness, but I'm on a treatment plan to make a full recovery from once debilitating symptoms.
Dystopian fiction allows us to step into the combat boots of those who have to fight for what they believe in. It's a genre which gives us fresh eyes to see what isn't right about the world, to make up our minds what needs to be done about it, and to decide what we're willing to sacrifice to bring about change. It provides a mirror to reflect on our beliefs and convictions--which is both intimidating and beautiful. I write dystopian to bring readers together in thoughtful reflection of why we do what we do, and to deliver an unforgettable story with richly developed characters in the process.
True to my genre, you'll find: overbearing government and a rebel resistance; themes of hope in the darkness, daring to be different, and fighting for what you believe in. You'll also find life-threatening secrets, ingroups vs outgroups, slow-burn romance, and redemption arcs for characters who are utterly human.
My writing is described as character-driven, vivid, honest, and thoughtful. I care deeply about preserving the art of classic literature while delivering my story in a way that resonates with readers now. The result is a minimalist style balancing poetic prose with raw conversation about real life.
